PREAMBLE

The Methodist Youth Fellowship seeks to aid in establishing Christ’s Kingdom among all people and in all areas of life especially within and through the agency of the Church, to share the abundant life of Christ with Youth through evangelism, education and social service; to enlist all the youth of the church in some of Christian Service and to seek with the youth of all lands fellowship and mutual help in the building of Christian world order.

Purpose.

1. To lead the youth to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and strive to deepen the personal lives of youth through Bible study and devotion ;

2. To develop the skills and provide opportunity for expression through hobbies and other activities ;

3. To challenge members to tithe and be good stewards of their time and talents ;

4. To increase the effectiveness of the youth by means of spiritual retreats, seminars, workshops, camps, conferences, etc ;

5. To increase the membership in the MYF through personal contacts and in a variety of activities which will , meet the needs of the youth and draw them into the life and fellowship of the church ;

6. To develop initiative in youth to speak and act in terms of their personal Christian conviction ;

7.To plan and implement effective programmes for dedicated Christian Homes, Social and Community concerns and service ;

8. To evangelise by spreading the Gospel of Good News through preaching, prayer cells, sale and distribution of Bible portions, tracts etc ;

9. To involve more Christian y0uth in the MYF programme and to challenge and encourage them to become involved in the mission of the Church through full time Christian service and ministry in the employment of the church ;

10. To assist the Church in its spiritual growth and development at every level through its programmes, home missions and outreach ;

11. To promote and support Christ-centered areas of work as may be decided from time to time.

12. To provide opportunity for leadership education and development.

13. To select a theme for the quadrennium which will highlight and direct the emphasis of the youth ;

14. To continually evaluate the work and the effectiveness of the MYF ;

15. To work in co-operation with the other Church and secular organization in the promotion of avenues of work for and with youth and in a programme of outreach to the community, nation and world ;

16. To seek affiliation with wider youth forums, of both Christian and secular nature ;

17. To invite representative of Christian and secular forums to conventions, commissions, committees and meetings ; and

18. To take disciplinary action as laid down in the MYF bye-laws.
